SAN JOSE - Gunderson needed every one of its 16 hits on Wednesday afternoon, rallying past Overfelt in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 9-8 victory.
Trailing 8-7 entering the final half-inning, the Grizzlies put runners on first and second with two outs, when a pair of passed balls allowed Kiya Sandoval to score the game-tying run. One batter later, Angela Anderson drove the first pitch she saw into center field, scoring Arianna Pimentel with the game-winning run.
Seven Gunderson players had multiple hits in the game, led by a three-hit effort from Angela Futch, who was walked prior to Anderson's game-winning at-bat. With the win, the Grizzlies stayed atop the West Valley Divsion, a half-game in front of Independence.
"Our whole lineup has been contributing, and there isn't really a weak link," said Gunderson coach John Drake. "They all approach an at-bat strategically, and understand what the situation calls for."
Angela Flores and Yasmine Casorla each drove in a pair of runs for Overfelt, who remains in fourth place in the West Valley. Isabel Montalvo added a pair of stolen bases for the Grizzlies, while Karly Brooks stole another.
