Kylee Vanderbout hit two home runs and drove in five runs, leading Clackamas past Douglas, 11-1, in a Mt. Hood league game on Monday afternoon.
Vanderbout's big day supported a great day in the circle from Nicole McBride, who held the Douglas lineup to two hits and no earned runs, while striking out six batters during the game. Alyssa Daniell also homered in the win for the Cavaliers.
Daniell actually led off the attack for Clackamas, homering on the first pitch she saw to leadoff the bottom of the first inning. Two batters later, Vanderbout walked, and scored two batters later when Kylee Giancola scored to center field with two outs. Karlyn Laurence then doubled to left, scoring Giancola.
Trinity Leob completed the first inning rally for the Cavaliers when she singled to right, driving in Laurence and making it a 4-0 lead at the end of one frame.
Clackamas put the game away early, with three more runs in the bottom of the second inning, highlighted by Vanderbout's first home run.
