SAN JOSE - Senior Dante Reinoso scored in the 77th minute to lift Branham to a 1-0 victory at Pioneer in the BVAL-Mount Hamilton Division boys soccer opener for both teams Tuesday night.
Reinoso tapped in a cross from sophomore Lucas Cuellar as the Bruins (4-2, 1-0 BVAL-MH), ranked 13th in the Prep2Prep CCS Top 25, edged the 22nd ranked Mustangs (4-2, 0-1).
"That was a huge goal for us," said Branham head coach Danny Kadah. "Pioneer defended extremely well and it was very difficult to get that breakthrough."
Both teams continue league play Thursday when Branham hosts Overfelt and Pioneer hosts Evergreen Valley.
