Justin-Siena rallies to down Sonoma Valley

March 8, 2018

NAPA, CA - The Justin-Siena Braves (2-0-1) saved their best for last, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Sonoma Valley by a margin of 7-4 on Wednesday afternoon.

After a Dragons reliever walked in a run and was pulled, Luigi Albano-Dito greeted the Dragons closer with a two-strike, two-run single to take the lead 4-3. Asher Sutter then followed with a booming no-doubt three-run home run to cement the Dragons fate.

"We backed ourselves up against a wall and responded in a big way," said Justin-Siena coach Jeremy Tayson. "We have shown every game so far that we are out to earn what we get and to walk away with the win today helps solidify that."

Nolan Dunkle started for the Braves and recorded eight strikeouts through three innings, finishing his day with a four-inning, three-hit performance, allowing no earned runs and striking out nine in total. Albano-Dito relieved and got the win, going two strong innings to complement his 2-for-3 day at the plate. Alex Kirley closed it out in the seventh, allowing a run on fielder's indifference.

Up next, Justin-Siena wraps up non-league play hosting Moreau Catholic on Saturday afternoon. The Mariners are 1-1 this season.
