The opening day of the Boras Classic North was not kind to the San Benito defense, as the Balers committed six errors, two of them coming in crucial extra-inning at-bats, which led to a 8-6 victory for Tracy in eight innings.
With one out and the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning, Tracy's Josh Alvarado hit a ground ball to third base, resulting in an error and a run crossing the plate. One batter later, a ground ball to shortstop off the bat of Ryan Dzoan resulted in another error and a two-run lead for the Bulldogs, who set down San Benito without a threat in the bottom half of the inning to earn the victory.
Ethan Bejines earned the win in relief for Tracy, while starter Matt Nunes took a no-decision despite not allowing an earned run. The Bulldogs' defense also committed four errors, in an overall sloppy game for both teams.
Ryan Jameson struck out five and did not allow an earned run for San Benito, in his five innings of work. Jacob Walter had a pair of hits and two RBI to pace the Balers' offense, while Dylan Angelo and Will Schaff each had two hits for Tracy.
