WALNUT CREEK, CA - Northgate scored runs in five of its six innings at the plate, pulling away for an 11-1 victory over Alhambra on Thursday afternoon.
Nico Zeglin struck out seven batters in six innings on the mound, before Ryan Birdwell closed things with a perfect seventh inning. Meanwhile, the Broncos' lineup pounded out 13 hits. Brock Rudy led the attack with a 3-for-3 day at the plate, scoring three times, while Chris Rogan, Shuichi Rountree, and sophomore Jonathan Gazdar each had two hits for Northgate.
Junior Tyler Boyce led Alhambra with two hits, including a double.
Northgate improved to 13-1 overall, and 2-0 in DAL-Foothill action with the win. The Broncos travel to Casa Grande this Saturday for a non-league game between two of the top Division II teams in the section.
Alhambra fell to 8-7-1 overall, 0-2 in league play with the loss. The Bulldogs play at Clayton Valley next Tuesday.
