SAN MATEO, CA - Back-to-back run scoring doubles in the bottom of the third inning from Kayleigh Puchinelli and Amanda Lovell gave Aragon pitcher Holly Fletcher a three-run cushion, which was more than enough for the junior hurler, as she led the Dons to a 3-0 victory over Valley Christian on Monday afternoon.
Aragon actually took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, when Suilolovao Folau's two-out single to left field scored Shannon Galliano. From there, Fletcher took over, striking out 13 batters while facing the leaders from the West Catholic Athletic League. The junior allowed just five hits, and allowed a runner past second base only one time, in the top of the second inning. After Valley Christian's Lauren Hendrickson and Kayla Dominguez singled to lead off the top of the seventh, Fletcher responded with three straight strikeouts to end the game.
Hendrickson and Dominguez each had two hits in the loss for the Warriors, while Galliano had two hits, including a triple, for the Dons. Dominguez tossed a complete game in the circle for Valley Christian, striking out seven while allowing five hits.
