The King's Academy had its ground game working on Friday night, as the Knights raced past Homestead, 43-6.
Senior back Bralyn Lux enjoyed the biggest night for King's Academy, carrying the ball 13 times for 202 yards and three touchdowns, including a 77-yard burst. In all, head coach Pete Lavorato's Wing-T attack was highly efficient in the win over the Mustangs, as seven different TKA players carried the ball, and the Knights racked up 337 yards on the ground.
Junior Jayden Frazier also had a productive night, going for 78 yards and two scores on just nine carries. Meanwhile, the Knights' defense was both opportunistic and stifling. Junior Zach Paszkeicz had two interceptions, while sophomore Noah Short had a fantastic all-around performance with 11 tackles, including two tackles for a loss, plus a blocked punt and a fumble recovery. Senior Matt Wilson added nine tackles, including two tackles for a loss.
Despite the TKA defense racking up 10 stops behind the line, Homestead did get a big night from senior Casey Latini, who carried the ball 18 times for 108 yards.
The King's Academy improved to 2-1 with the win, and plays at winless Aragon next Friday. With the loss, Homestead fell to 0-4 and will face Los Gatos next Friday in the SCVAL-De Anza opener for both teams, in a game to be played at Levi's Stadium.
