Fast start leads San Lorenzo past Kennedy

December 18, 2018

A perfect defensive effort in the first quarter got San Lorenzo started, and the Grizzlies continued to pull away from there, beating Kennedy-Fremont 41-23 in non-league girls basketball on Monday night.

San Lorenzo led 15-0 after one quarter, and extended the lead to 18 points at the half, 25-7. Junior Maddy Samaile led the way with a game-high 18 points for the Grizzlies, who improved to 3-5 with the win.

Senior Sarah Giles chipped in with 12 points, while junior Arquasha Hazzard rounded a trio of double-figure scorers with 11 points, as those three players accounted for all of San Lorenzo's points. The Grizzlies pushed their lead to 20 points at the end of three quarters before shutting things down offensively in the final eight minutes.

San Lorenzo faces KIPP King on Tuesday night, while Kennedy hosts Northgate on Tuesday night after falling to 0-6 with the loss.
