CONCORD - The gap between top teams in the Central Coast Section and the North Coast Section was on full display Monday at Carondelet, as visiting Mitty cruised past the Cougars for an 80-58 victory.
Haley Jones scored all of her 26 points in the first three quarters, and Hunter Hernandez helped put the game away for the Monarchs, scoring 12 of her game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter as Mitty pulled away over the final eight minutes.
Mitty held a commanding 51-29 lead at halftime, but Carondelet did close the gap to 12 points at the end of the third before the Monarchs (16-2) put the game back out of reach. Ania McNicholas added 20 points for Mitty, giving the team three players above the 20-point mark.
Carondelet (17-4) was led by Ali Bamberger, who had 17 points in the loss, while senior point guard Emily Howie chipped in 16 points.
Mitty hosts Valley Christian on Friday, while Carondelet plays at Dublin on Saturday night.
