Willow Glen scored 28 consecutive points on Saturday afternoon to overcome an early deficit and beat Ann Sobrato, 28-18, in BVAL-Santa Teresa action.
Host Sobrato (3-4, 1-4) led 3-0 after one quarter. but the Rams (6-2, 3-2) took the lead for good midway through the second quarter on a five-yard touchdown run by quarterback Gabe Negrete and quickly added to the lead when Nick Morris returned a fumble 50 yards for a score and a 14-3 advantage.
Negrete extended the lead with just over two minutes remaining in the first half, connecting with Michael Malvini for a 25-yard touchdown pass and a 21-3 lead at the break.
Malvini set up the only Willow Glen score of the second half, and it came early in the third quarter when he intercepted a pass inside Willow Glen territory, thwarting an opening drive for the Bulldogs. The Rams then marched 66 yards to take a 28-3 lead.
Malvini and Marquez Barba each recorded interceptions for the Rams in the fourth quarter, before Jesse Redmond reached the end zone for Sobrato on a 10-yard run and Isaiah Avery added another 10-yard jaunt to the end zone for the final points of the game.
Willow Glen hosts Overfelt next Friday in a battle of playoff hopefuls, while Ann Sobrato hosts a hot Silver Creek team next Saturday.
