SAN FRANCISCO - Even without senior guard Bryce Monroe, Riordan had no problems against crosstown rival St. Ignatius, cruising to a 55-40 victory on Friday night.
Senior Je’lani Clark lead all scorers with 20 points, while Robert Vaihola scored all 12 of his points in the second half while adding nine rebounds to his total. The Crusaders pulled ahead of the Wildcats early, and even had a 19-3 run spanning the first two quarters to cruise to an early 24-8 lead.
The Wildcats appeared worn down on Friday night. Playing in their third rivalry game in a week, the Cats came out flat. Freshman guard King Jhsanni-Wilhite only scored 10 for the Cats after three consecutive games of scoring 15 or more. The Wildcats struggled on the boards too, as Riordan outrebounded SI by more than a 2-1 ratio. The Crusaders pulled away in an uneventful second half.
