Esteban Mosqueda scored the game's only touchdown late in the third quarter and Lincoln retained the Big Bone trophy with a 7-0 win over San Jose Thanksgiving afternoon at San Jose City College.
Mosqueda reached the end zone on a 24-yard run with 2:11 left in the third quarter and the Lions held on. Although the two teams compete in the Blossom Valley Athletic League-Santa Teresa Division, this was not considered a league game because of its timing. Lincoln finished the season 9-1; San Jose ended up 3-7.
The win was the 18th in a row in the traditional Thanksgiving Day series for Lincoln, which needed overtime to hold onto the trophy last year. The Lions would have qualified for the Central Coast Section playoffs as the BVAL-Santa Teresa champion, but once again decided to forgo the playoffs to keep the Big Bone tradition alive.
