Righthander Brenny Hillan tossed a two-hitter as Scotts Valley defeated visiting Santa Cruz County Athletic League rival San Lorenzo Valley, 3-1, Friday afternoon in league play. The win improved the Falcons' record to 7-3 overall, 2-1 in the SCCAL.
Hillan (3-0) shut down the SLV attack, allowing just two hits and striking out six in a complete-game performance. He received offensive support from sophomore Jake Lobo (2-for-3, run scored) and senior Garrett Johnston and junior Riley Hilton, who each drove in a run.
Junior lefty Tian Mirande took the hard luck loss for the Cougars (6-5, 2-2), who rebounded for a 4-3 non-league win over West (Tracy) Saturday. Next up for Scotts Valley is a trip to Harbor as the Falcons continue SCCAL play.
