Valley Christian recovered from a seven-run deficit to defeat host St. Francis, 17-15, in a West Catholic Athletic League softball game Tuesday afternoon.
The Warriors rallied from deficits of 7-0 and 10-4 to improve to 4-6 overall, 1-2 in the WCAL. The Lancers dropped to 5-5-1, 1-2.
Hitting stars were plentiful on both sides, as the teams combined for 32 hits. However, sophomore Marcella Kay stood out with a 5-for-6 performance, including a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Jessica Mitz, Marissa Lerma and Jackie Brown had three hits apiece for Valley Christian, with Lerma socking her first home run of the season.
St. Francis was led by senior Madeline Damore, who had two triples and four RBIs.
