SAN JOSE - A pair of first-half goals staked Piedmont Hills to an early lead, and the Pirates went on to the 3-2 victory over Branham on Tuesday in BVAL-Mt. Hamilton girls soccer action.
Senior Drew Bozarth and sophomore Emely Ramirez each scored a goal and had an assist in the win, while senior Janessa Cordoba also put one in the net for Piedmont Hills (8-3-4, 5-2-2 MH).
Sophomore Kaylana Owens assisted on both of Branham's goals, setting up senior Ai-vy Dang and junior Clarabelle Walkup, but the Bruins (3-13, 0-9) fell just short in their bid for a league victory.
Piedmont Hills faces league leader Sobrato on Friday, while Branham seeks that elusive win at Leland on Friday.
