BRENTWOOD, CA - For most of the 2018 season, the Heritage baseball team has had to manufacture runs in order to win games. That was not the case on Thursday afternoon, as the Patriots pounded out 20 hits in an 18-1 win over visiting Pittsburg.
Ryan Jackson and Devin Jensen each had three hits for Heritage (10-5, 1-1 BVAL), who led 10-1 after three innings. Jacob Jackson turned in a solid four-inning start to get the win, allowing just four hits and one run before giving way to Sean Andrus, Jack Erickson, and Nick Liechty, who each tossed one scoreless frame.
Ryan Jackson's hits included a triple, and he led the way with three RBI, while Aidan Quinn, Oscar Murray, Stephen Murphy, and Bryson Kinnick each drove in a pair of runs.
Christian Blevins and Kris Leffle each had two hits for Pittsburg (11-5, 0-2), while Zack Ellsworth scored the lone run for the Pirates.
Heritage heads to league co-leader Liberty on Tuesday, while Pittsburg hosts Antioch.
