Host Santa Teresa scored single runs in the first four innings to hand the Branham baseball team its fourth straight defeat, 5-0, Wednesday afternoon.
The loss further damaged the playoff hopes of the Bruins (9-14-1, 3-8 BVAL-Mount Hamilton), who are fighting for one of the seven at-large berths for the CCS playoffs. Santa Teresa (6-15, 3-8) is an extreme longshot for a playoff spot, needing to finish in the top four in the division to earn an automatic bid. The Saints are currently two games behind fourth-place Westmont and Leigh.
Junior Jacob Dressler led Branham with two hits. The two teams meet again Friday afternoon (4 pm) at Branham.
