Tremelling's gem lifts Westmont past Pioneer

May 4, 2018

CAMPBELL, CA - After Ryan Poirier's single with two outs put runners on the corners for Westmont in the bottom of the fifth inning, it was a balk by Pioneer pitcher Jacob Rincon which proved to be the difference, sending Kirk Vasquez in with the eventual winning run, as Westmont downed Pioneer, 1-0.

Poirier's single was actually the only hit of the game for the Warriors, as Rincon allowed just three base runners, on the lone hit and two walks. He struck out four in a strong complete game effort. And as fantastic as Rincon, he was matched by Westmont starter Austin Tremelling.

Tremelling allowed two hits for the Warriors, but struck out eight, including the last two outs of the game. His effort meant that minimal offense was enough for Westmont in a key victory over the Mustangs.
