MILPITAS, CA - Offense was in short supply, but Los Altos ended a seven-game losing streak with a 3-1 win on Friday afternoon at Milpitas.
Ryan Baum threw a complete game for the Eagles, scattering six hits and striking out five, while walking only one. The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Los Altos struck back as two errors allowed two runners aboard with one out in the second. Simon Heck then singled to load the bases. Brock Susko walked to force in one run and Ben Parker hit a sacrifice fly to score the second and make it 2-1.
Los Altos added a run in the third as Zach Fuchs singled with one out. After a line out, Aaron Parker hit a two-out double down the left field line to score Fuchs and make the score 3-1.
Though Milpitas was able to mount a considerable threat in the sixth, when the first two hitters singled and advanced to second and third with none out on a wild pitch, Baum was able to induce a pop out, a liner was snagged by second baseman Juan Angulo, and a comebacker to the pitcher ended the threat. Baum would retire the Trojans 1-2-3 in the seventh to earn the victory.
The Eagles await their opponent in the postseason league tourney for a Tuesday matchup, while Milpitas will play Cupertino in a best-of-three series to see who will move down to the El Camino Division next season.
