With a chance to get a big quality win on its resume, James Logan wasted no time attacking San Ramon Valley on Monday, as the Colts unleashed a barrage of first-half goals, which led to a big 4-2 win in non-league boys soccer action on Monday.
Logan is unbeaten in Mission Valley Athletic League play (2-0), but had dropped earlier non-league matches to Monte Vista, Castro Valley, Foothill and Santa Rosa. Facing a perennial EBAL and NCS power on Monday, the Colts got off to a fast start and never looked back.
Senior Sergio Garcia led the way with a pair of goals in the win, while fellow upperclassmen Nicolas Barrera and Miwoned Siraj each put one in the back of the net. And while San Ramon Valley countered with plenty of shots on goal, junior keeper Mark Vargas-Garcia had a tremendous outing, recording eight saves to preserve the victory.
James Logan improved to 3-4-2 overall with the win, and resumes MVAL play at Kennedy-Fremont on Wednesday. San Ramon Valley fell to 3-3-1 with the loss, though the Wolves are 2-0 in EBAL action. SRV heads to De La Salle on Thursday evening, as they resume league play.
