Gunderson kept pace atop the BVAL-Santa Teresa Division Friday night with a hard-fought 12-7 win over visiting Westmont. With the victory, the Grizzlies (5-1, 3-0 BVAL-ST) find themselves in a three-way tie for first in the BVAL "B" Division along with Lincoln (4-1, 3-0) and surprising Silver Creek (3-3, 3-0).
The Grizzlies were down 7-0 at halftime courtesy of a four-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Flint (11-of-19, 103 yards) to junior wide receiver Mark Derobertis. But Gunderson rallied for 12 third-quarter points and managed to hold off the Warriors (1-5, 0-3), who were in search of their first league win.
Gunderson hosts Mt. Pleasant (1-5, 0-3) while Westmont hosts Silver Creek in BVAL action Friday night (7 pm).
