El Modena earned the top seed in Division 8 thanks to a 9-1 regular season that saw its only loss against Villa Park. The Vanguards’ offense is explosive, posting 316 points and will present a challenge to any opponent in their path. At the opposite end of the bracket is Northview, which also lost just once in the regular season. The Vikings went undefeated in league play and suffered their lone loss to open the season, a 44-22 defeat to Charter Oak. Since then, Northview has reeled off nine straight wins, with most coming convincingly. The Vikings will host Chino, which enters the playoffs on an at-large bid with a 4-6 record. The winner of that game will face the winner of Burbank versus Brea Olinda. Temescal Canyon travels to face Saddleback Valley Christian in the first round, while 8-2 Don Lugo matches up against Moreno Valley. Garden Grove plays host to Laguna Hills at the bottom of the top half of the bracket, while Yorba Linda will battle Kaiser for the right to play the winner of the aforementioned matchup. At 8-2 overall, San Dimas versus Rio Mesa rounds out the bracket.

Sleeper team: Garden Grove finished the regular season with a 7-2 record and an undefeated league mark, and sits in a winnable half of the bracket. Garden Grove will have to get past Yorba Linda and top seed El Modena to make the title game, but it’s not inconceivable to see the Argonauts, with an offense that scored 315 points in 10 games, winding up battling for the Division 8 crown.
