Forslund let go at Half Moon Bay

May 17, 2017

Rich Forslund, who led Half Moon Bay's boys basketball team to 167 wins in the last seven seasons, including 22 or more wins in each of the last six years, has been let go from the program, he announced on Wednesday morning.

In a phone conversation with Clay Lambert of the Half Moon Bay Review, Forslund said he was notified of the decision a day earlier, in meetings with administration where his coaching techniques were criticized.

"I think it is going to be an interesting transition for all the returning players," Forslund told Lambert. "I think (coaches did) a lot of things behind the scenes that people aren't even aware were done."

This past season, the Cougars went unbeaten in PAL-Ocean action, and advanced to the CCS Division IV title game, and also to the second round of the CIF NorCal playoffs. It was the second straight season, and third time in the last four years, that Half Moon Bay went unbeaten in the Ocean Division.
