SCL Roundup: El Molino moves to 2-0, and more

PETALUMA, CA - The second week of Sonoma County League play began this past week as one team had a big win, and a few others had nice, commanding wins.

Piner 36 Elsie Allen 20

Kelvin Castilo set the tone for the Prospectors as he scored in the first quarter to put his team up early. Castillo would add another score later on to pad their lead. Mason McClintock had three touchdowns, one in the air and two more on the ground. For the Lobos, Jonathan Rubio had an 89 yard touchdown reception, and quarterback Diego Mendoza had a rushing touchdown.

Petaluma 56 Sonoma Valley 6

Petaluma scored early and often to race past Sonoma Valley on Saturday night at Casa Grande High School.

Garrett Freitas for Petaluma ran for 184 yards on 10 carries, including a 78 yard run to set up quarterback Justin Wolbert’s one yard touchdown run. Justin Turner had two touchdowns, one receiving and one rushing. Dominic Ayers also had two touchdowns, a rushing touchdown from three yards out and a pick-six for 57 yards. Rocko Wetzel of Sonoma Valley had their lone touchdown on a three yard run in the second quarter.

El Molino 27 Healdsburg 10

Jacob Sani completed 13-27 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 68 yards on 9 carries. Sam Wilson had 15 carries for 118 yards and a touchdown. In addition, the Lions accumulated 126 yards on kick returns on the game. El Molino has started 2-0 in league in consecutive seasons.
