Gilroy alum Brandon Boyd, a senior at Pacific University in Oregon, was named first-team All-Northwest Conference for the 2017 season, highlighting a contingent of Northern California athletes to get recognition.
Boyd completed his career for the Boxers with an outstanding senior year, rushing for 1,039 yards and nine touchdowns, while adding 13 catches for 154 yards and a score. Over the last two seasons, he totaled close to 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground.
Other Northern California alumni to earn post-season awards include Pacific defensive lineman Xavier Harvey (Jesuit-Sacramento), who earned second-team defense status, and a quartet of honorable mention selections. Those selections included Whitworth senior offensive lineman Vince Porporato (Aptos), Lewis & Clark sophomore offensive lineman Devon Franklin (Franklin-Elk Grove), Puget Sound junior defensive lineman Todd Blakely (Saint Mary's-Albany), and Lewis & Clark junior defensive back Tawayne Malone (Monterey Trail-Elk Grove).
