California's Wright commits to Tulane

December 12, 2017

California-San Ramon senior Ryan Wright announced his commitment to play for the University of Tulane on Monday, where he will take his talents as a punter for the next four years.

Wright, who earned first-team All-EBAL honors as a kicker and punter, was also the Grizzlies' starting quarterback, throwing for close to 3,000 yards and 31 touchdowns over the last two seasons.

As a punter, however, his skills have been considered among the best in the nation. This year, he averaged close to 44 yards per punt, and 12 of his 31 punts were downed inside the opponents' 20-yard line.

"I chose Tulane because I absolutely fell in love with the school, the staff, and the city (of New Orleans)," Wright said. "I can't wait to spend my next four years there. This is the right place for me."

Prior to getting an offer from the Green Wave, Wright had a preferred walk-on offer from San Jose State.
