Palo Alto sweeps pair to extend win streak

Palo Alto swept a pair of games over the weekend, routing Wilcox and Gunn to extend its win streak to 10 games, while also staying unbeaten in SCVAL-De Anza action.

The Vikings improved to 12-2 overall, and 3-0 in league play, starting with a 67-35 Friday night win over Wilcox. A night later, they added a 56-40 non-league win over Gunn.

It was a big second half against Wilcox which set the tone for the weekend, as Palo Alto outscored the Chargers 45-15 over the final two quarters. Max Dorward had a phenomenal all-around in the win, going for 21 points, four assists, three rebounds, and four blocks. Will Schlemmer demonstrated the Vikings' dominance down low, adding 12 rebounds and three more blocks, while Spencer Rojahn added 13 points, hitting three shots from beyond the arc, and Jared Wulbrun had eight points.

A night later, Dorward and Bryant Jefferson scored 13 points each in the win over Gunn, while Dorward capped his weekend with a double-double, adding 10 rebounds.

Rojahn once again hit a trio of three-pointers, finishing with 11 points, while Schlemmer had seven points, six rebounds, and three assists. The third quarter was a huge difference maker for Palo Alto, outscoring Gunn 19-9 in the quarter, with Jefferson and Dorward accounting for 13 of the 19 points.

Palo Alto is back in action on January 17 against Homestead.
