Ryan headlines NorCal athletes to earn All-CCAA spring honors

June 15, 2018

Former Drake-San Anselmo pitcher Joe Ryan headlined a deep cast of Northern California alumni who earned All-California Collegiate Athletic Association in baseball and softball this spring.

Ryan, who just completed his senior season at Stanislaus State, was named the conference's Most Valuable Pitcher, and was drafted in the seventh round by the Tampa Bay Rays, the highest draft pick in Stanislaus history. He was also named the West Region Pitcher of the Year for NCAA Division II baseball, and was named a first-team All-American by the Conference Commissioners Association.

Joining Ryan on the All-CCAA First-Team were CSU-Monterey Bay catcher Jacob Tonascia (San Benito HS), CSU-Monterey Bay shortstop Kyle Czaplak (Pacific Grove HS), Chico State outfielder Kyle Blakeman (Benicia HS), CSU-Monterey Bay outfielder TJ Dove (River Valley-Yuba City HS), CSU-Monterey Bay pitcher Colton Fletcher (Westmont HS), Chico State pitcher Jae Wagner (Analy HS), and CSU-Monterey Bay utility player Hayden Duer (Davis HS).

Second-Team honors were awarded to CSU-East Bay third baseman Adam Hollar (Livermore HS), Chico State third baseman Cameron Santos (California-San Ramon HS), Stanislaus State first baseman Adam Large (Beyer HS), Stanislaus State outfielder Braeden Oki (Tracy HS), and San Francisco State pitcher Matthew Hernandez (Fort Bragg HS).

Northern California was also well represented in the softball awards, particularly the Bay Area, which had three athletes earn first-team honors. UC San Diego freshman pitcher Robyn Wampler (Berkeley HS) was named the CCAA Freshman of the Year, along with earning first-team all-conference and second-team All-West Region honors. Joining her on the first-team was UC San Diego third baseman Maddy Lewis (Alameda HS) - who was also named Academic All-District First-Team - plus UC San Diego outfielder Kelsi Maday (Napa HS), CSU-San Bernardino outfielder Morgan Ratliff (Wilcox HS), and Humboldt State outfielder Winona Vigil (Rocklin HS).

Second-Team softball honors went to San Francisco State shortstop Hayley Nunes (Tracy HS), Chico State pitcher Naomi Monahan (Roseville HS), Humboldt State utility player Micaela Harris (Whitney HS), and San Francisco State outfielder Andrea Hildan (Rocklin HS).
