PETALUMA - Through 19 games this year, no opponent has been able to figure out how to beat Petaluma, and the Trojans' NCS Division 3 quarterfinal match-up with El Cerrito was no different.
Junior Lauren Hazel scored twice, giving her 13 goals for the season, and junior Zoe Frothinger also reached the back of the net, as Petaluma rolled to a 3-0 victory over the Gauchos, improving its overall record to 16-0-3 this season. With the win, the Trojans move into the section semifinals, where they will host three-seed Campolindo on Wednesday night. The Cougars beat Acalanes, 3-1, in the quarterfinals.
Freshman Silvana Sessi needed to make just two saves to preserve the clean sheet in the win against El Cerrito, which went unbeaten in the TCAL-Rock this season and had beaten San Rafael in the first round. It was the third straight shutout for Sessi, who has posted 11 clean sheets this season.
