Wilcox took advantage of numerous Los Altos miscues in the semifinals of the SCVAL-De Anza baseball tournament, beating the Eagles 7-2 after Los Altos had won both regular season meetings.
Wilcox put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh inning, plating three runs to create the five-run margin. Los Altos loaded the bases in the bottom half, but a double play ground ball to second base ended the threat. Ben Parker homered and had two hits in the loss for the Eagles.
Palo Alto, meanwhile, spoiled a strong start from Los Gatos pitcher Trevor Allen as junior Dean Casey scattered seven hits over six shutout innings for the Vikings, while Josh Kasevich slammed the door by striking out two in the seventh inning for the 1-0 victory over the regular-season division champions.
Sophomore Ritter Amsbaugh drove in the only run of the game for Palo Alto, in the top of the fourth inning. Kasevich, Zander Darby and Kyle Mostofizadeh each had two hits for the Vikings, and Kasevich scored the only run of the game.
