May 23, 2019

MIRANDA - CJ Van Meter led the way on the mound and at the plate for South Fork, leading the Cubs past Waldorf and into the North Coast Section Division VI championship game.

Van Meter struck out 10 and did not allow a hit in his five innings on the mound, walking just one in an efficient 60-pitch outing. He also delivered a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, as South Fork cruised to the 7-1 victory in the semifinal match-up. Cooper Scott struck out two and also did not allow a hit during his two innings of relief.

Tanner Curran had two hits in the win for the Cubs, including an RBI double in the fourth inning, while Scott and Cody Wyatt added run-scoring singles during a four-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth.

South Fork will host Credo at 1 pm on Saturday for the section title. Credo defeated Point Arena 7-0 in the other Division VI semifinal, getting a complete game two-hit, eight-strikeout effort from Claude Pepe.
