Trio of Menlo athletes going big-time

December 14, 2015

Three Menlo School athletes have signed with NCAA Division I schools. There will be more signings to report as well in the future, once admissions are complete, according to the school.

Payton Mack has signed with Gonzaga University to play volleyball. Mack in the past three seasons has led the Knights to a CIF-State NorCal title and two regional appearances and a Central Coast Section title in 2013. She had 176 kills and a .350 hitting percentage in her recently concluded senior year. Mack also had 67 blocks in 83 sets and she’s a two-time all-league, first-team pick.

Nikky Pierce is headed to William and Mary for lacrosse. She verbally committed as a junior. The midfielder and defender had 45 goals and 21 assists last season for the league champ Knights. She was also third on the team with 33 ground balls and won 41 draws. Price was a first-team, all-league pick in 2015 and second team in ’14.

Finally, Polly Finch is headed to Texas for crew and will fill the role of coxswain. The Longhorns are ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation. Finch participated in a week-long rowing camp last summer and obviously she made an impression. At Texas, she will be coached by Dave O’Neill who led the Cal women to two NCAA titles. Currently, the future Longhorn trains and competes with the Stanford Rowing Center.
