Bellarmine star Jake Wojcik was granted his release from his commitment to Siena after head coach Jimmy Patsos resigned in the wake of a scandal surrounding verbal abuse of a manager.
Wojcik, who averaged 17 points per game for the CCS Open Division and back-to-back WCAL champions, had committed to Siena during his junior year, but he has reopened his recruitment in the aftermath of Patsos' departure. He shot 41.2% on 3-pointers for the season and scored 29 points in an 84-70 win at rival St. Francis on February 13 to clinch a second consecutive league title. He also averaged 15.6 ppg in his junior year.
The 6-foot-4 guard has ties to the East Coast, including family in West Virginia. His father, Dave, served as head coach at San Jose State from 2013 through 2017.
