The Mountain View football team is back in action Friday night at 7 pm when the Spartans host Sacred Heart Prep in a non-league matchup. Coming off a bye week, Mountain View (2-1) will have one final tuneup before league play starts October 2 at Half Moon Bay.
The Spartans opened the season with comfortable home wins over Capuchino (52-13) and San Lorenzo Valley (31-13) before falling 35-21 at Live Oak September 11. In Sacred Heart Prep, the Spartans will be taking on a team from the higher PAL-De Anza Division; however, the Gators dropped a 49-28 decision last week to Half Moon Bay.
The Gators (2-2) are led by senior QB JP Durrett, who has completed 40-of-74 passes for 557 yards and eight touchdowns. His leading receiver is senior Charlie Ford, who has caught 13 passes for 293 yards and three scores. Junior Johnny Rollins leads the rushing attack with 213 yards and to touchdowns on 41 carries.
For Mountain View, senior QB Ishan Devarapalli will look for his top receiver Dominik Kristof; the pair combined for two touchdowns in the win over Capuchino.
