Bellarmine becomes the third team in three weeks to take over the top spot and traditional powers Carlmont and Saint Francis move into the top 25 on the basis of strong starts in their respective leagues.

Bellarmine moves into the top spot on the strength of a perfect week that included wins over Serra, St. Ignatius and Riordan. The Bells meet Valley Christian and Mitty this week.

A rare rough week knocks the Spartans down a notch after they were held to a tie against Homestead followed by their first loss of the season, 2-0 at Los Gatos. The Spartans face Fremont and Santa Clara this week.

M-A remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win over Sequoia and a 0-0 draw against Burlingame. The Bears host Carlmont and Aragon this week.

SI split its games last week, knocking off Riordan and losing to Bellarmine. The Wildcats face Serra and Saint Francis this week.

Mitty suffered its first loss of the season in stunning fashion, falling 5-0 at Serra. The Monarchs host Sacred Heart Cathedral and Bellarmine this week.

Paly moved into a three-way tie for first place in the SCVAL-De Anza with wins over Los Gatos and Fremont. The Vikings meet Santa Clara and Los Altos this week.

Westmont served notice to the rest of the BVAL-MH with two more wins, including a 6-0 beatdown of Mt. Pleasant. The Warriors host Branham before an end-of-week showdown at Leigh for first place in the BVAL-MH.

Alvarez continued its remarkable run with a 2-0 win at Monterey. The Eagles, who improved to 11-0-1 overall and 4-0-0 in the PCAL-Gabilan, face Alisal and Hollister this week.

Leigh kept pace with Westmont atop the BVAL-MH with easy wins over Willow Glen and Christopher. The Longhorns visit Mt. Pleasant and host Westmont this week.

Serra moves up on the strength of a 5-0 thrashing of Mitty that followed a 2-0 victory over Riordan. The Padres take on SI and Valley Christian this week.

Harbor opened SCCAL play with a 6-0 win at Scotts Valley. The Pirates (9-1-1) play Soquel and Aptos this week.

Los Altos joined Mountain View and Palo Alto at 3-1-1 in the SCVAL-DA with wins over Fremont and Santa Clara. The Eagles face Wilcox and Palo Alto this week.

Los Gatos handed Mountain View its first defeat, but a loss to Palo Alto earlier in the week leaves the Wildcats three points out of first place. LG faces Homestead and Wilcox this week.

Del Mar started BVAL-ST West play with a tie against Overfelt and an easy win over hapless Oak Grove. The Dons face Gunderson and Piedmont Hills this week.

Mt. Pleasant bounced back from a humiliating 6-0 loss against Westmont for a last-minute 1-0 home win over Branham. The Cardinals face Leigh and Christopher this week.

Aragon was knocked off 2-1 at Carlmont to fall three points behind the Scots in the early race for the PAL-Bay title. The Dons visit Sequoia and Menlo-Atherton this week.

Santa Clara was held to a scoreless draw by rival Wilcox and then fell to 1-3-1 in the SCVAL-DA with a 4-3 loss to Los Altos. The Bruins face a pivotal week with matchups against Palo Alto and Mountain View.

Menlo improved to 5-0 in the WBAL with wins over Pinewood, Harker and Crystal Springs Uplands. The Knights face Sacred Heart Prep and Pinewood this week.

Monta Vista continued its strong start to the season with a 3-0 win over Gunn and a 2-2 tie at Milpitas. The Matadors host Lynbrook Wednesday.

Hillsdale opened PAL-Ocean play with wins over San Mateo and Half Moon Bay. The Knights take on Mills and Jefferson, neither of which has won a game yet this season.

Gunn split its games last week by 3-0 scores, losing to Monta Vista and beating Lynbrook. The Titans host Cupertino Thursday.

The Gators remained two points behind Menlo in the WBAL race with wins over Woodside Priory, The King's Academy and Eastside College Prep. SHP travels to Menlo Wednesday with first place on the line.

Lincoln got back into the playoff hunt with wins over Branham and Pioneer. The Lions take on Christopher and Willow Glen this week.

Carlmont moves into the top 25 on the strength of league season-opening wins over Burlingame and Aragon. The Scots travel to Menlo-Atherton and South San Francisco this week.

Following a rough preseason, Saint Francis moves into the rankings following wins over Sacred Heart Cathedral and Valley Christian this week. The Lancers will look to build on their 3-2 league mark with games against Riordan and St. Ignatius this week.
