BRENT SCHAEFFER, VISTA DEL LAGO
Position: Quarterback
Year: Senior
It takes a real special performance for a player to land at the head of the class twice in one season, and Schaeffer did just that in a 56-14 win over eventual section finalist Placer. Schaeffer completed 23 of 29 passes for 418 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for 57 yards and another score.
JOE CURRY, FOLSOM
Position: Quarterback
Year: Senior
The Folsom machine was rolling at this point of the season, and the senior signal-caller posted another big performance in a 47-14 win over Rocklin. Curry threw for 287 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for another score, in a big Bulldogs’ victory.
GINO CAMPIOTTI, MANTECA
Position: Quarterback
Year: Junior
Campiotti had one of his best performances on the biggest stages, lifting Manteca to the Division 4 section title with a 50-28 win over Placer. The junior signal-caller threw for 318 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for another score, in the big win for the Buffaloes.
JAKE DUNNIWAY, ST. MARY’S
Position: Quarterback
Year: Senior
The recognition here has to also be shared with the Rams’ offensive line, which opened up massive holes for Dusty Frampton and gave Dunniway plenty of time to throw in the 56-25 title game win over Folsom. But Dunniway was also excellent, completing 14 of 20 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns in the big win over the Bulldogs.
