Buena Park stomps Sunny Hills

October 29, 2016

BUENA PARK, CA -- After a close first half, the Buena Park Coyotes dominated the Sunny Hills Lancers in the second for a 40-14 victory on Friday, Oct. 28.

Senior running back Brandon Castelo started things off for the Lancers with a touchdown seven minutes into the first quarter, to which the Coyotes responded with a touchdown of their own by sophomore running back Jamiel Henning in the next quarter.

The Lancers again pushed ahead after junior running back Alex Jung scored what would be their last touchdown.

And just like last time, the Coyotes answered back with an 80-yard touchdown, this time by senior wide receiver Elijah Gates.

“We were in a tight ball game with them in the first half,” Lancers head coach Peter Karavedas said. “Then, eventually, fatigue sets in and they’ve got a lot of athletes out there that we get tired of chasing around, so we ran out of gas a little bit.”

Indeed, the second quarter was lopsided, with the Coyotes adding to their lead with a 75-yard kickoff return touchdown by Gates.

“I feel that we started off slow, but we picked it up at halftime but next time we gotta start off faster to begin with,” he said.

The Coyotes then hammered the final nail in the coffin with touchdowns by Henning and senior wide receiver Victor Bates.

“Our players are executing with the coaches drawn up, our staff has done an amazing job week in and week out and we’re having trust in our players,” Coyotes head coach Anthony White said.

The Coyotes (4-0) look to continue their streak against the Troy Warriors (3-1) next Friday while simultaneously preparing themselves for playoffs.
