Hughson four-goal second-half explosion leads to win

HUGHSON,CA - Hughson may have been tied at the end of the first half, but would be able to pass by Escalon, taking a victory in girls soccer by a score of 5-2.

Hughson looked to push their momentum in the second half putting up four goals, as Morgan Ehlers would score two goals, then Jessie Lawrence would put up one goal, and lastly, Iliana Gonzalez would put up the last goal of the game for Hughson. Maddison Kenburg put the lone goal in the net for Escalon in the second half, making the final score 5-2.

“Our execution just wasn’t there tonight and hopefully we can change that with our last game approaching next week.”said Escalon's Peyton Arnold.

The first half started off with a bang, as Adriana Gudino would put up the first goal of the game, but Escalon would come back to tie up the game as Emily Gonzales scored the last goal of the first half, making the score 1-1 at the half.

“We played a great game today and I am glad we were able to pull away with the win.” said Hughson’s Morgan Ehlers

“We have one game left this season and we are going to try to make the best of it next week, We must pick up our intensity if we want to win.” said Escalon coach Jamie Humrichouse-Peoples

“We had a really good defensive and offensive game tonight against Escalon. We are going to make sure we keep the momentum going into our bye and make sure we give our hundred percent that last game of the TVL season.” said Hughson coach Mark Morphy.
