Carlos Jimenez threw a four-hit shutout Wednesday as Andrew Hill defeated Independence 3-0 in a Blossom Valley Athletic League West Valley Division contest.
The Falcons collected 14 hits, led by Guadalupe Santoyo with three hits and Nick Lopez, Jose Medina and Reymundo Rodriguez with two each. Lopez and Medina both had a pair of doubles.
Jimenez struck out seven and walked two for the Falcons (8-12-1, 8-9-0), who host Yerba Buena Friday afternoon. Independence, which hosts San Jose Friday afternoon, fell to 12-12, 11-7.
