San Benito rolls past Alvarez

HOLLISTER, CA – San Benito bounced back from a humbling loss a week ago with a 34-7 win over visiting Alvarez Friday night in the MBL-Gabilan season opener for both teams.

The Balers (3-1, 1-0 MBL-Gab), ranked 14th in CCS by Prep2Prep, got off to a fast start with 13 points in the first quarter on touchdowns by brothers Joe and Jonny Demaggio.

San Benito increased the lead to 27-0 in the second quarter on touchdowns by Jonny Gonzales and Slade Wilson.

Following an Alvarez touchdown, Matty Roman concluded the scoring with a nine-yard run with just over six minutes left in the third quarter.

Next week, San Benito visits Monte Vista Christian (3-1, 1-0), while Alvarez (2-2, 0-1) hosts Palma (1-3, 0-1).
