Brandenburg does it all in Carlmont victory

March 7, 2018

BELMONT, CA - It did not matter that Carlmont senior standout Jordan Brandenburg had never before started a varsity baseball game on the mound. His experience as an elite player became transcended on Tuesday afternoon against Riordan by his pitching performance, stifling the Crusaders' lineup during a 5-1 non-league victory.

Brandenburg struck out eight and scattered six singles in the complete game victory, while also conducting his usual damage at the plate. He went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a home run that was scorched to left field.

Taylor Douglis had another of Carlmont's six hits in the game, leading off the second inning with a single to center, and eventually scoring the Scots' first run of the game. Brandenburg produced the second run with his home run to lead off the third, and added another RBI on his sacrifice fly to left field in the sixth, scoring Mitchell Plane, who had led off the inning with a double.

Carlmont improved to 3-1 with the victory, and faces El Camino on Saturday. Riordan fell to 1-2 and faces South San Francisco on Wednesday.
