MVC boys soccer blows by Marina

January 7, 2020

Four first-half goals were more than enough for Monte Vista Christian on Monday against Marina, as the Mustangs cruised to the 5-0 victory in non-league boys soccer action.

Sophomore Cristian Linares and freshman Evan Mariscal each had a brace in the win on Monday, giving each a total of four goals for the season. Junior Logan Pluckhan added his first goal of the season, while senior Mason Escalante made a pair of saves to preserve the clean sheet as the Mustangs improved to 4-1-3, unbeaten since a season-opening loss to Del Mar. It was the fourth straight shutout for the Monte Vista Christian defense.

MVC will host Pacific Grove on Thursday, Jan. 9 in its final non-league match before starting Cypress Division play. Marina fell to 0-5 with the loss and will look for its first win of the season on Friday, Jan. 10 when the Mariners host St. Francis-Watsonville.
