Menlo-Atherton edges Hillsdale, holds onto third

February 8, 2013

Menlo-Atherton retained third place in the PAL-Bay Division boys soccer race with a 1-0 victory against host Hillsdale on Thursday.

The Bears finally broke through after a scoreless first half to improve to 9-5-3 overall, 6-4-2 (20 points) in the PAL-Bay Division. The top three teams in the PAL-Bay receive automatic bids to the Central Coast Section playoffs. The loss dropped Hillsdale to 5-7-6 (3-6-3, 12 points). More significantly, Hillsdale now needs to win its final two games, against Sequoia and Westmoor, to become CCS eligible.
