Senior Claire Klausner threw a three-hit shutout as Gunn rolled to a 9-0 victory over host Lynbrook in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino Division softball game Friday afternoon.
Klausner struck out 13 and walked only one in a dominating performance. Gunn scored two runs in the first and put the game away with two runs each in the final three innings.
Freshman Katie Garvey was the hitting start for the Titans, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Klausner (3-1) was a force at the plate as well, ripping a double and triple to go along with two walks. Senior Laura Tao and sophomores Natalie Oda and Iris Chin added two hits apiece as Gunn rapped out 11 hits.
Following the win, Gunn (4-7, 3-1 SCVAL-EC) dropped a pair of non-league games on Saturday, to Los Gatos, 2-1, and Half Moon Bay, 5-0. The Titans get back into SCVAL-EC play Wednesday when they take on first-place Saratoga (12-3, 3-0). Lynbrook (1-4, 0-3) looks for its first league win Wednesday at Cupertino. Both games start at 4 pm.
