PORTLAND - Pitcher Ben Braukmann held visiting Liberty to three hits in a complete game effort, leading Westview to a 5-0 win on Thursday evening.
The Wildcats scored five times in the first two innings, and Braukmann took care of the rest, striking out seven batters and needing just 86 pitches to finish the winning effort.
Willie Weiss got things going in the bottom of the first for Westview, drilling a two-run triple to left field, and he scored himself one batter later on Mante Woods' ground ball to third base.
A bases loaded ground ball in the bottom of the second resulted in two more runs for the Wildcats, giving Braukmann everything he would need and then some in the 5-0 victory.
