Second half lifts Campo past Las Lomas

February 6, 2019

MORAGA - Trailing by three at the half, host Campolindo took control in the third quarter against Las Lomas, eventually pulling away for the 66-52 victory.

Senior Jake Chan got hot from deep in the third quarter, drilling a pair of three-pointers and scoring all eight of his points during that period, but it was the Cougars' defense that really made a difference. After allowing 34 first-half points, Campolindo (19-6, 10-1 DAL-Foothill) held the Knights to just eight points in the third quarter. Junior Niko Kieffer had a team-high 13 points for Las Lomas, but nine of them came in the first half, and he was held scoreless during the third quarter.

The fourth quarter, meanwhile, belonged to David Ahazie. The senior Cougar scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the final eight minutes, as Campolindo pulled away for the final margin. Freshman Aidan Mahaney had 14 points for the Cougars, including four three-pointers, while sophomore Max Weaver added 10 points.

Kieffer was joined in double figures by JT Estes, who had 12 points for Las Lomas (11-14, 3-8).

Campolindo finishes its regular season on Wednesday night against Clayton Valley, while Las Lomas plays at Acalanes on Friday night.
