Prolific Prep's Josh Jackson headed to Kansas

April 12, 2016

The season may have ended two weeks ago for Prolific Prep of Napa, but the Crews’ players have stayed busy.

Prolific Prep’s Josh Jackson has committed to the University of Kansas to play for coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks at Allen Fieldhouse. With the addition of Jackson, Kansas has moved up to the sixth-best recruiting class for 2016, according to Scout.com. Also in the running for the consensus #1 player in the 2016 class were Michigan State and Arizona. Jackson announced his decision on Twitter Monday afternoon.

In the 39th annual McDonald's All American game on March 30th at the United Center in Chicago, Josh Jackson was dominant, as the senior had a game-high tying 19 points sharing game MVP honors with Terrance Ferguson. Jackson and Team West won over Team East 114 to 107. Prolific Prep’s head coach Billy McKnight was in attendance at the McDonald's All American game and observed both the practices and the game.

“While watching the two practices and scrimmage leading up to the televised game, it was clear that Josh was driving his team to compete to win. His idea of fun is to compete as best you can, and to win," McKnight said. "He changed a traditional 'showcase' event where not much defense is normally played into a competitive game where players were defending and trying to put their best foot forward. He literally changed the game. Josh played almost a flawless game but defensively is where he really stood out. When he guarded Jason Tatum (ESPN #1, Gatorade player of the Year), Jason really struggled to score. Jason is obviously a great talent, but it my mind Josh showed that he is the best player in the country.”

In other Prolific Prep activity, University of Connecticut commit Vance Jackson has accepted an invite to the sixth annual Ballislife All American Game at Long Beach City College. The 6’8" small forward will play on Team Future, which features other high school standouts such as Terrance Ferguson (undeclared), Jon Isaac (Florida State commit), Ike Anigbogu (UCLA commit) and others.

2017 four-star power forward Ira Lee has been picking up interest from a number of Pac-12 schools, as Oregon, Cal, Arizona State and USC have joined UConn in recruiting the 6’9" rebound machine. Fellow 2017 prospect Abu Kigab has recently received a scholarship offer from Cal and Villanova. The 6’6" small forward has also seen interest from Oregon, Kansas, Baylor and Ohio State.

Prolific Prep will be offering two skills training clinics over the months of April and May. One is designed for high school players and one for players of all ages. Both skills training clinics will be held at Grace Church in Napa. If interested email or call Prolific Prep at Info@Prolificprep.org or 1-707-849-1212.
