Mitch Shapero is the new boys basketball coach at Leland High, while former Leland coach Drew Marino has moved over to Willow Glen High.
Shapero coached the Leland JV team last season. Marino last season led Leland to a section title last season with a 48-47 win against St. Ignatius at Santa Clara University. Leland’s season ended with an 83-49 to eventual state champ Serra in the CIF-State NorCal Division II second round.
Shapero has coached in the National Junior Basketball league and was formerly the freshman coach at Santa Teresa. His JV team at Leland last season went 17-6.
