The East Bay Athletic League has released its all-league baseball team for the 2017 spring season.
De La Salle pitcher Cullen Kafka and Foothill pitcher/first baseman Brett Hansen took home top honors for the league. Kafka was named the EBAL's Most Valuable Pitcher, while Hansen was named Most Valuable Field Player.
Hansen, a junior, hit .321 with 26 RBI this season for the Falcons, who went unbeaten in their first 17 games this year. He also posted a 7-1 record with a 1.38 ERA on the mound, striking out 76 batters in 61 innings.
Kafka, who will play next year at the University of Oregon, has a 10-1 record with a 1.11 ERA this season for the Spartans, including a complete game, 12-strikeout performance in De La Salle's opening round win over Granada in the NCS playoffs. For the year, Kafka has 84 strikeouts in 63 innings pitched.
